Frocester is a small Gloucestershire village and a parish in the Stroud District. It lies below the Cotswold escarpment, ten miles south of Gloucester at the entrance of the Stroud valley. We are a relatively small community with a population of less than two hundred.
Frocester was the site of a Roman settlement and formerly an estate of Gloucester Abbey. The village was formed around the crossroads on the road running down Frocester Hill towards the Severn crossing at Arlingham. The remains of a Roman villa have been excavated in the grounds of Frocester Court and another near the remains of St Peters Church.
